Needlefish Films has signed a tentative agreement for private financing of The Real Grudge Match Season I. The project is slated for production in late September and will be airing on The Score and the Fight Network in Canada. The producers are currently pursuing several major networks and affiliates in the US.

Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3), Noah Danby (Painkiller Jane), Billy Zane (Titanic) and Hakeem Kae Kazin (Hotel Rwanda, 24) particpated in a series of commercials for the MylifE project in South Africa. MylifE is a foundation that helps get kids off the street by providing them with positive work and life experience. The commercials were directed by Trevor McWhinney of Needlefish Films Inc and were shot on location in Capetown, South Africa. The campaign was called ‘MystorY, MylifE’ in which the actors became the voices for the supporting actors, that were children whom were saved from the streets and the cycle of destruction.
UFC and HBO Boxing step aside, there’s a new fighter in town. Needlefish Films, under the umbrella of Telefilm Canada, which boasts the largest exhibition at the MipTV television market in Cannes in 2009, is excited to be representing their latest project for the world.
The Real Grudge Match, which is a pop culture phenomenon, is a half hour television series about regular people with real grudges who try to settle their score in the ring in front of thousands of screaming fans. Hilarious commentators deliver insightful play-by-play as these average-Joe warriors, with exceptional stories, try relentlessly to knock out their ex-best friends, bosses, rivals, accountants, enemies, etc.

Needlefish Films will also be promoting ‘A Downhill Life’ which is a reality TV series about young, extreme athletes competing for the opportunity of a lifetime. Following one of the fastest growing sports in North America and set in world-renowned and picturesque Whistler, Canada, hundreds of downhill mountainbikers and freeriders flaunt their skills to prove that they’re the next Top Rider.
Following a 3 episode preliminary competition, only 8 riders remain and they are roomed together in a villa with the cameras rolling 24/7, capturing every moment of the competitive drama and eclectic personalities. Over 8 weeks, the riders fight to avoid elimination as they are put through vigorous competitions that challenge them mentally and physically, on and off of the hill.
Their true characters are tested and only one rider proves victorious, is crowned the next Top Rider and is awarded a professional contract and sponsorship that will change their life forever.
South Africa here we come! Needlefish Films has been contracted to produce the special features and behind the scenes elements of the latest Uwe Boll feature film in South Africa. Needlefish Films director Trevor McWhinney has done several films internationally with Uwe Boll including Bloodrayne in Romania and Uwe’s critically acclaimed film Tunnel Rats in South Africa in 2007. It is a dramatic and gripping portrayal of US soldiers fighting in tunnels during the Vietnam war. The special features and behind the scenes were produced by Needlefish Films.
UFC and HBO boxing stand aside, the new hot ticket is all about the amateurs. The 5th annual ARFC fight night was a massive success with 12 fights and over 1100 cheering fans. It was an explosive night of grudges, haymakers and jawcrunching knockouts. Needlefish Films productions was there to capture all of the action and will be releasing the event soon on DVD and Blu-Ray. The event was directed by the [2]HeadedMonster.

‘Hearts on the Run’, a music video directed by the [2]HeadedMonster and performed by Karen Lee Batten has been nominated for Video of the Year at the BC Country Music Awards, hosted at the Red Robinson Theatre, Oct. 26th. It is a great honor for Trevor and Steve to be part of such an exciting event and to be competing against top notch talent like The Higgins, Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford and Lisa Brokop. Needlefish Films has signed on with Purio Environmental Water Source to create promotional videos for their new revolutionary water filtration system. There are rumours that this machine can turn raw sewage into drinking water. Stay tuned to watch it unfold.
